Customizing EZCalendar (Preferences)   Figure 3 - Preferences Dialog Customizing EZCalendar: To set any options for EZCalendar just click the “Prefs” button from the EZCalendar Control Panel window. Here is the description of the check boxes: • Icon at Start-up: If checked, an icon will be displayed during the Macintosh's startup. • Show Yearly Text: If checked, you’ll see the yearly event’s text in the calendar (otherwise, you’d see an icon to let you know a yearly event is set for that day). • Show Daily Appointment Text: If checked, you’ll see the daily appointments listed on the calendar for that day (otherwise, you’d see an icon to let you know appointments exist for that day). • Show Moon Phase: If checked, you’ll see the phases of the moon for the current month. • Show Lines in Days: If checked, you’ll see a line across each day. (It's just for looks, you decide what you like best, with or without). Date and Time Info: • Short, Abbrev. & Long Date formats: You select which type of date to display in the dialogs and windows: Short = 5/8/00 Abbrev. = Mon, May 8, 2000 Long = Monday, May 8, 2000 • Font Info: You can change the font and size used in text display (and editing) as well as the font and size used in the notes. Here is the description of the buttons: • File Type: You can change the file Type & Creator by clicking this button. The default Type & Creator are ‘TEXT’ & ‘ttxt’ (which are SimpleText files). If you wish to have EZCalendar create standard text files using a different Type & Creator, you can easily change it by typing in a new one or by clicking the “Select File Type…” button to be able to select an existing file and have the Type & Creator automatically be entered. This is useful if you wish to be able to double-click any EZCalendar note and have an application other than SimpleText open it. • Print Margins: You can set print margins (in inches) for all printing from within EZCalendar by clicking this button. • Password: You can set a password to access your daily notes. Please do not forget the password if you set one as you would no longer be able to view/edit your “Protected” notes. If no password is defined, anyone can access your daily notes that has access to your computer. Special Applications: You can create a list of applications that cause problems while using EZCalendar. If the application is completely EZCalendar unfriendly you can turn EZCalendar off in the application entirely by checking the "Turn Off EZCalendar in this application". To add an application to the list, click the “Add” button, select the application and click the “Open” button. Check the "Turn Off EZCalendar in this application" check box for that application. To remove an application from the list, select it with the mouse and click the “Remove” button.   Figure 4 - Special Application Dialog
